我国的期货市场产生于二十世纪九十年代初。1990年10月12日，中国郑州粮食批发市场以现货为基础，引入期货交易机制，作为我国第一个商品期货市场开业，迈出了中国期货市场发展的第一步。

期货市场基本上经历了初步形成阶段(1990年-1993年)、清理整顿阶段(1994年-2000年)和规范发展阶段（2001年至今）。经过清理整顿，我国期货市场由原先的50多家交易所、近千家期货经纪公司缩减到现在的上海期货交易所、郑州商品交易所、大连商品交易所三家交易所以及189家期货经纪公司。上海期货交易所的交易品种有铜、铝、胶合板、天然橡胶、籼米；郑州商品交易所的交易品种有小麦、绿豆、红小豆、花生仁；大连商品交易所的交易品种有大豆、豆粕、啤酒大麦。其中，交易较活跃的品种为大豆、小麦和铜(交易情况详见表9-1、图9-1)。

目前，我国已经初步形成了以期货交易所为核心的较为规范的市场组织体系，期货市场的功能初步显现和发挥。期货市场法规与监管体系初步建立，依法治市的环境已经形成，市场风险控制能力大大增强。同时，随着我国改革开放的深入，期货市场在国民经济中的重要作用日益受到人们的认同和重视。

Futures Market

The futures market of China originated in early 1980s. On October 12, 1990, Zhengzhou Grain Wholesale Market introduced the futures trading system based on spots as the domestic first commodity futures market, which marked the first step of China’s futures market.

The futures market has gone through the initial phase (1990-1993), regulatory phase (1994-2000) and regulated phase (2001-present). After the regulation, China’s futures market has dwindled from over 50 exchanges and some 1,000 futures brokerages to three exchanges, i.e. Shanghai Futures Exchange, Zhengzhou Futures Exchange and Dalian Futures Exchange, and 189 futures brokerages. Shanghai Futures Exchange is primarily engaged in the trade of copper, aluminum, veneer, natural rubber and indica rice. Zhengzhou Futures Exchange is primarily engaged in the trading of wheat, mung bean, jequirity and peanut. Dalian Futures Exchange is mainly engaged in the trading of soybean, bean paste and beer barley. The major commodities in active trading include barley, wheat and copper (as set out in table 9-1 and figure 9-1).

At present, China has generated the regulated market system hinged on the futures exchanges with the initial exertion of the functions of the futures market. Meanwhile, the maturing futures regulations and regulatory system have fostered the legal environment of futures market with greatly enhanced risk-control ability. In addition, the in-depth opening-up and reform of China fosters the acceptance of the critical role of the futures market in the national economy.
